Clean Socks Hope exists to bring Hope and Dignity to those in need. The ministry fulfills this mission every day by being a creative, innovative Community and Social initiative that offers participants dignity and the power to choose for their families a hand up and not a hand out.

We see our donors as investors and shareholders, and we treat them as such. We offer transparency and return on investment, not in dollars but, in lives changed! Thanks to our mission partners, Midtown Ministries and Northside Christian Church we’ve had the opportunity to show God’s love to over 5,000 men, women and children in southern Indiana in a powerful way.

Clean Socks Hope has seen tremendous growth in each of our outreach initiatives in the eight years since inception. We anticipate unprecedented expansion in 2016 with the growth of Midtown Hope Festival, which has tripled in size from our inaugural event and continues to grow.

The Christmas Store: Once we saw the hurt in eyes of struggling parents as they watched others provide for their children, we knew we had to find a better way. This is the reason why we began our Christmas Store – Hope For Parents program. It replaced our Adopt-a-Family program that had suburban families delivering presents to the homes of needy families destroying what dignity that had left.

The Christmas Store—Hope for Parents Program positions potential candidates to the store itself and to the Midtown Neighborhood Network. Like our friends at Focused Community Strategies and other like-minded individuals and organizations that understand the difference between a crisis or chronic need, we believe that investing in a community and journeying along side new found friends is the ultimate Matthew 25:40 directive. While giving may seem like the kind and Christian thing to do, it often ends up undermining the very relationship a helper is attempting to build.

We need volunteers to come along side our hurting families and help them in their journey of food insecurity. Our Food Cooperative model is a viable alternative to our food pantry ministries, Clean Socks Hope is offering collaborative guaranteed food delivery program from Dare To Care Food Bank and the Midtown Neighborhood Network Food Cooperative—members of our cooperative avoid the slippery slope that often begins with food insecurity. They shop from the same cooperative every other week and it saves them time, gas money and dignity within the cooperative model that they own. Moreover, besides providing food security, the cooperative model invites and encourages accountability, participation, and communal cooperation from the members.

Funding Needs

The Midtown Neighborhood of New Albany. It's a place of hopelessness, crime and suffering and it is the greatest job I have ever had and filled with some of the finest people I have ever known. We see some 30 to 40 street homeless men and women every week. We work out of a pay-what-you-can coffee shop offering dignity to those in need. So, what's dignity look like? We average 20 to 30 showers a week out of our Midtown Commons Coffee Shop for those without a place. We offer relational programming for those who want it and we never offer hand-outs. We have the homeless sitting alongside doctors, lawyers, pastors and the indigent. Our goal is to fund, found and build the Midtown Spirit Cultural Center and Urban Academy.
